I wouldn't recommend bothering with Au Lapin Agile if you're not fluent in French and/or appreciate French humor. ![]() Here's another recommendation for heading for Place du Tertre and following your ear. These days, only tourists appreciate the classic chansons/chanteuses. In the guise of 'Macadam Manivelle' but her real name is Arlette Denis. She does look rather eccentric, but she has a great voice - one of the closest performers to the 'Piaf' sound that I have come across yet, this is a clip of her from You Tube: ![]() She arrives on her scooter, sets up a small barrel organ with lots of bits and pieces around her to 'attract attention'. If you go up to the top of Montmartre on a week-end, just outside of the Place du Tertre if you are lucky you will find a busker singer. Even if they don't have a 'Piaf' style singer, It does look as though you could have a very interesting evening there!Īu Lapin Agile has traditional French Cabaret including singers of this type. La Limonaire is one of the places that sort-of 'jumped off the page' to me, also.
